Hmmm...will this work? Here is the cake I made:

You'll notice it's sitting on a white base thing, which is part of a cake carrying device that I FINALLY purchased. I'm bringing it next time I got to my MIL's house, whether I bring a cake or not!! :D

I totally stole this from Tasha, although she knows how to make it go away until you click on a link and I do not. Unless anyone cares to let me in on the cool kids' tricks, you're stuck with it up front.

It is so nice to be able to sit on my balcony and play on my computer. I love having a wireless network!
Since it's my birthday tomorrow, I'm supposed to bring a cake into work. I think they've got it ass-backwards at this office, but apparently they can't be bothered to make a fuss over anyone else's birthday, so people are supposed to bring their own cakes. I mean, I don't *have* to, but if it's the only way I'm getting cake, you better believe I'm bringing it!
So, originally I was going to try and make a pumpkin cake. Just a round one with a jack-o-lantern face on it, since I don't have the kind of mold Tasha used when she baked me an awesome 3-D pumpkin cake. However, I think that instead I'm going to make a cemetery. With white chocolate ghosts and gravestones and stuff. I hope it turns out! :D

Today the Minister came to see our little office. That would be government Minister, not religious. So well had to gather and look attentive while he shook our hands and made some remarks. Fascinating. ANYWAYS, he gripped our hands way too hard, and someone commented on it. He responded that it came from having been in politics for too long, and from having grown up on a dairy farm. THEN, he made hand motions which, after a beat, I realised were intended to simulate milking a cow. Let me tell you, for that beat, I thought he was going somewhere WAY different...
Some assholes are letting off fireworks. I have no idea why the people in our neighbourhood are so obsessed with fireworks. They set them off quite frequently, and they're damn noisy.
Tonight I made (with Alex's help) these awesome cookies called witches's fingers for the halloween potluck at work tomorrow. I hope people like them. And I hope somebody brings something I can eat. :D

The heat wave has broken!
Apparently when they re-filled the whole heating system this weekend, they locked everyone's brand new valves on "open", so there would be no air bubbles in the system. Which is why our thermostat wouldn't work. I don't know why they couldn't just WARN us of this, fercrissakes!
I don't know what's up with this heating company. There are 33 condo units in our building, and all of us were told to move our furniture away from the walls so they could access our heating registers. They started last Monday, so Alex and I dutifully moved all our furniture on Sunday night, and have been living with our furniture in the middle of the room for a week now. When I called today to find out where they were at, it turns out they're starting on the fourth floor, which means they've done us - we live on the third floor. So we could have moved our furniture back days ago. Couldn't they let us know? I'm not talking about a personal phone call; would it kill them to tape a business card to our door or something equally quick and easy to signify that they're done with our condo???
In other news, I've been playing The Sims on PS2 all weekend. Life is good. :)

It is so frickin' hot in our condo right now.
Seriously, it's like 30 degrees in there. Alex and I slept with the bedroom window AND the balcony door open last night, which we don't normally do, but we didn't want to suffocate.
There's a problem with our heating system - old valves or something - that is currently being fixed. When I say "currently", I mean they started last week, but of course they don't work on weekends. So they had drained the water from the heating system, but they put it back on for the weekend. And our valves don't work, so although WE have turned the thermostat down to zero, SOMEBODY has clearly turned it up, and heat is boiling out of the heaters.
People, it's 12 degrees outside right now, and got pretty close to 20 during the day. It is HARDLY necessary to turn the heat on!!!

Our second show, last night, went well. I hosted, which I haven't done in for frickin' ever, but it went well. I also don't think I swore all night which, let me tell you, may be a personal first.
I also found out today that I got selected for a moot team at school! Yay! This moot is on an equality question, it was my first choice - should *definitely* be interesting! And a good friend of mine is on the same team, AND the moot is in Toronto! So it will all be very, very cool. And lots of work, but whatevuh...

So, since I have time to take these tests, I suppose I have time to write something real. Here's an update:
- We had a show tonight, and have another one tomorrow night. We're doing "The Maltese Pigeon", a film noir long form. It's fun. :)
- I am working at a new co-op job. The work is interesting, the people like each other (which is a nice change from my last co-op job!), but I could do with a little less hand-holding. I don't understand why people won't just let me do whatever I want! ;)
- I tried out for a moot team at school and am still waiting to hear the results. I did something very stupid during my tryout because I had to bus to school in the middle of the workday and my mind was not in the right space. That's my excuse for asking the judges if they had any questions in the middle of my submission...you just don't DO that!
- My lovely sister and brother-in-law (who visited over the weekend!) are giving Alex and me their old van in January. I may actually get my license!
- I saw "Serenity" last night and enjoyed it.
- I have to officially wear long pants to work because it's too cold for my beloved capris and sandals. Stupid winter. Okay, it's not "real" winter, but phooey all the same.
- At the urging of my mom, I'm trying to follow the zone eating plan (it's not a diet! I swear!), which requires me to swallow 7 vitamins daily. I can almost get 6 in my mouth in one go. My mom says she can do them all at once, so now I have a goal to work towards. Goals are important, folks.
- How early do you think I have to start looking for a place to live in Sudbury next September?
- Hee. Stephen Colbert just said "Dalai Lamaland". I love him.
- I have no idea what to be for Halloween.

Apparently I am not so classy. Whatever! I'm still Miss Katherine Hepburn!

| Katharine Hepburn You scored 9% grit, 52% wit, 42% flair, and 4% class! |
| You are the fabulously quirky and independent woman of character. You go your own way, follow your own drummer, take your own lead. You stand head and shoulders next to your partner, but you are perfectly willing and able to stand alone. Others might be more classically beautiful or conventionally woman-like, but you possess a more fundamental common sense and off-kilter charm, making interesting men fall at your feet. You can pick them up or leave them there as you see fit. You share the screen with the likes of Spencer Tracy and Cary Grant, thinking men who like strong women. Find out what kind of classic leading man you'd make by taking the Classic Leading Man Test. |
