The moot is dead.
I'm sure it's shocking to anyone who actually reads this that I didn't immediately come here and post, but the awful truth is that the very next day I got sick. Sickety sick sick. Just in time to get to fly home to Victoria - which means I haven't been able to hear in my left ear since I got back over a week ago. Yeah, yeah, I saw a doctor, we're all "hoping" there's no permanent hearing loss.
I am also sporting not one, not two, but three lovely cold sores on both my upper AND my lower lip. This may be a world record. It's certainly a record for me. And they're complemented nicely by the huge scab on my nose from blowing it too often. I'm right sexy!
So, the moot...well, we didn't win anything. But, on the other hand, we didn't make asses of ourselves. So, mission accomplished! It was a lot of hours putting in exhausting effort for...well...we got a nice dinner out of the deal. Unfortunately we were seated with a racist, sexist asshole who is apparently big in the Toronto law world - I think they wanted to punish us for bringing the only three vegetarians to the event, causing them to scramble at the last minute because it hadn't even occurred to them to even ask if vegetarian meals might be needed.
I don't know what else they expected, bringing a team for Tree Hugger U.

I finally remembered to buy coffee filters yesterday, so I could make coffee at home this morning. Unfortunately, when I pulled my milk out of the fridge, I realised that its expiry date was March 3rd. I drank it anyways. It didn't curdle, and that's a good enough litmus test for me. :)
It's All Moot, All the Time (tm) at Chez Clare these days. We leave on Thursday and have our first argument on Friday - we assume; god forbid these people give us a SCHEDULE or anything! Don't mind me, I'm just a little bitter at the moot organisers. They said they were sending out the factums yesterday - the factums being the written arguments submitted by the people we'll be arguing against at the moot. Which is kind of important to Cynthia and I, since we're the Respondents and, as you might guess, we're supposed to be RESPONDING to these arguments. Our factums didn't arrive yesterday - despite us hanging around at school an extra 5 hours in hopes that they might eventually show up - and we have a sneaking suspicion that the Ontario schools got theirs yesterday, given that they were couriered from Ontario. Which is Not Fair. Much like life, I hear, but you'd think they'd try to rectify that a little at law school...
So anyways, we're hoping they arrive today so we have at least 24 hours to deal with any arguments that we didn't anticipate, and read up on any cases we haven't already prepared. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!
We have our last oral practice today, with guest judges who are real lawyers, and it's open to the public. I predict hilarity. At our last oral practice, I got stumped by the question "why are you here?" Yeah, it's awesome.
