Actual quote of from comments on one of the papers I handed in last semester:

"Did you run out of time?"

Sadly, yes.

So, I'm applying to a few things for when I graduate. Yes, I'm applying to things for September 2006. You have to do things that early here in Law School, it appears.

Anyways, I have to provide a writing sample, so I figured I'd take one of the memos I wrote during the summer at my co-op job, remove any identifying information, and tighten it up a bit. No problem.

Except I've been 'tightening it up a bit' for the last 2 hours now...sigh.

Vinny found this.

It's pretty funny.

I bet it's even funnier if you've heard the original.

Yay! The rain came and washed away all the snow! Finally!

Listen, people, I did not sign on for snow that actually STAYS ON THE GROUND!!! That's not what I moved to Victoria for, dammit!

I apologise for the lengthy silences and quiz posts lately, folks, but I've started a new work term and they seem to frown on me blogging in the workplace. And, once I get home, having sat in front of a computer all day, I find I am reluctant to do it for even more time...

On the other hand, I get to perform useful functions like translating a letter from French into English. And then writing a response, and translating it back into French. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is how my Very Expensive Law School Education (tm) is being put to work at my latest co-op placement. Oh, I suppose I also get to do other things too, but I sometimes get the feeling they're scraping the bottom of the barrel in trying to make up work for me...

Speaking of my VELSE (tm), marks are out today. It appears that I did not fail International Law. It is, indeed, my lowest mark, but a respectable pass nonetheless. I can only assume there was some SERIOUS grade-curving there.

Happy New Year!!!

One of our local television channels - I think it might be a CTV affiliate? - has decided to celebrate the first few minutes of 2005 playing the various "we-are-a-group-of-superstars-and-it's-the-80s-so-let's-do-a-fundraiser-song-for-those-starving-people-in-other-countries" videos.

Alex and I just thoroughly enjoyed the video of "Tears Are Not Enough" - and by "thoroughly enjoyed" I mean, of course, that we spent the entire time trying to identify random Canadian 'superstars'. It was pretty funny.

Hmm. You know, I've never heard of "Artists Against Appartheid" before, and I have to say this "I Ain't Gonna Play Sun City" is a pretty catchy song. Also a much clearer political statement (Sun City being a huge casino in South Africa, boycotting being a popular form of exerting international pressure) and boasts way cooler stars than, say, "We are the World". Why doesn't it get as much air time?

As a side note, the reason I know Sun City is a casino in South Africa? Globetrotters. What an awesome game that was...until it went mysteriously missing from my house. :(
